Armed Forces Entertainment Taps Michigan Blues Act

Rusty Wright Band

Armed Forces Entertainment has invited the Michigan’s Rusty Wright Band to tour United States military installations in South Korea and Japan.

The tentative schedule for the 14-day tour kicks off September 1 with six shows at military installations in South Korea, including a Blues festival at Osan Air Force Base. The group will then wrap up the tour with three shows in Japan, including the Camp Fuji Festival in Tokyo. The group’s live show consists primarily of original music from the band’s two Sadson Music releases Ain’t No Good Life (2006) and Playin’ with Fire (2009). Both CDs have enjoyed airplay in more than 100 countries and tunes from Playin’ with Fire are in regular rotation on B.B. King’s Bluesville channel on Sirius/XM satellite radio.

Aside from a small stipend to cover travel expenses, Armed Forces Entertainment touring artists do not receive compensation for their performances. While on tour, the group plans to blog, post photos and video clips to the band website as often as they are able.

The five-piece act includes guitarists Rusty Wright, his wife, Laurie LaCross-Wright and drummer Peter Haist (Flint, Michigan); keyboardist Dave Brahce (Perry, Michigan); and bassist Andrew Barancik (Fenton, Michigan).

According to the Armed Forces Entertainment website, AFE hosts more than one thousand two hundred shows around the world each year, reaching more than five hundred thousand personnel at two hundred and seventy military installations.
