Learn to play a 'Dumbek'

It's not Blues, but it's pretty cool stuff!

Drum workshop -
You can learn to play a 'Dumbek' from Raquy, a master, in a 1 ½ hour drum workshop. Good for all skill levels!

Raquy teaches on and off throughout the year for a few weeks to a month at a time at Cairo University and American University in Egypt and this year was honored to play with the Cairo Philharmonic. The concert on Nov. 24 at the Tap Room in St. Louis will feature a preview of their new unreleased CD “Bewitched”, scheduled to be released on January/February 2009.

The Return of Raquy & The Cavemen -
Following the drum workshop is The Return of Raquy & The Cavemen, Live in concert, with performances by Salwa, Sonja, Christine, Chuvani and a few more. Raquy and the Cavemen of Brooklyn, NY, bring traditional Middle Eastern music and modern drumming to a heady peak. Raquy has traveled the throughout world, countries including those in the Middle East, Egypt and India, where she has experienced and absorbed musical culture. She uses all this knowledge to bring an amazing act to the stage. Raquy Danziger performs with the Dumbek (Arabic hand drum) and the Iranian Kamanche, which is much like a violin.
