In case you haven't been yet, the Chain of Rocks bridge was converted into a pedestrian and bike path in 1999. (Here's a glimpse of how it looked prior to that). It's a great place to bike ride, picnic, or just take a leisurely stroll.

The folks at the Mary Michelle winery picked the place to hold their inaugural Blues & Jazz Festival, a very scenic choice. The weather cooperated, as the 65 degrees and cool breezes made for a perfect musical outing.

On the Missouri side, the Rich McDonough band was in fine form, at the midway point the SIU jazz band held court, and over on the Illinois side the Soulard Blues band was laying down a solid groove.

It's the first time I've ever walked 2 states in pursuit of great Blues music. Of course, the beverage of choice was the offerings of the Mary Michelle winery, a nice choice indeed. Let's hope for repeat performance of this exciting event, all it needs next year is you!
