Bottoms Up Blues Gang
Alvin Jett & the Phat noiZ Blues Band are on the road returning from a series of successful shows in Alabama and Florida.

We left the winter temperatures of Columbia, MO on Saturday, March 3 and drove straight through to sunny Fort Lauderdale, FL to perform at the Riverwalk Blues Festival with Walter Trout, Chris Beard and a host of local bands. There were a lot of familiar faces of members of the South Florida Blues Society who were instrumental in getting us a slot on the show as well as Pete “Blewzzman” Lauro of Mary4Music.com who wrote reviews of both Milk And Cookies and Wet My Beak. http://www.mary4music.com/CD31.html.

Then it was off to Fort Walton Beach where we had three days to bask in the sun next to the emerald waters of the Gulf Coast. It’s too bad we don’t have any pictures to post of Alvin frolicking on the beach.

On Thursday, March 8, we drove into Mobile, AL for a performance at the Blues Tavern. Folks, this is a true roadhouse. When we walked into the joint, we all thought, “Oh sh*t! What are we getting ourselves into!” Which is funny, because, Lil Bit, the daytime bartender seen us walk in (two white guys and two black guys) and thought, “Oh sh*t! We’re gonna get robbed!! As it turned out the show was great and the packed house was very enthusiastic.

We drove to Tallahassee, FL on Friday, March 9, to perform at the Bradfordville Blues Club. This place is located at the end of a dirt road and really has some history. It used to be on the chitlin’ circuit back in the day and has been around in one form or another for over 100 years. If you are ever in Tallahassee, you’ve got to hit the BBC.

It was back to Fort Lauderdale, FL on Saturday, March 10. You could see that Spring Break was starting to kick into high gear. We performed at a small club called Rosey Baby. There was a packed house made up of friends in the South Florida Blues Society. The president of the SFBS, “Bluesbobby” Weinberg, was celebrating his 58th birthday.

After a Sunday morning “Blues Brunch” at Bluesbobby’s house, we headed to Port Charlotte for a show at Gatorz. We just now crossed over the Florida state line into Georgia on our way back home. We are looking forward to performing at BB’s Jazz, Blues & Soups this weekend, Friday, March 16. See you there.
