ALLEY TONES :: BIO

Formed in March of 2012, to play and preserve the blues art form. The four members immediately came together as a unit, proving the blues is a universal language. Age nor background separates any of the players. Blues standards was the starting point. We gathered together individual influences to mix with it on the way. There was a common thread in a respect for the fundamentals of the style. Staying deep in the pocket, but turning the lead guitar and vocals loose to improvise kept it interesting while keeping it supertight.

Chicago, St. Louis and Memphis are the three most important blues cities on the planet. Playing blues in the St. Louis metro area regularly while hitting the road occasionally to do other cities and festivals is what we like to do. We have an offer to be signed to a label, but so far we prefer to make our own original recordings in our home studio. We are very encouraged by the audience response to our show.

There are fewer slow blues tunes than some bands, and we love slow blues, but we like to keep it hopping. We love jump blues which is essentially swing from the 1940's. All the tunes are super danceable. We have a large collection of songs and we vary the set list to accommodate everybody.
