JAKE AUSTIN & THE CITY LIMITS :: BIO

Jake Austin & The City LimitsJake Austin & The City Limits are a high energy rhythm and blues band with a great modern twist to the music! With their screaming horns, complementing guitars, danceable rhythms and memorable vocals this is a band you are sure to love! In 2006 Jake Austin moved to St. Louis with little more than a box of clothes, a Ray Charles album, and a dream of reinventing Rhythm and Blues. After three years of songwriting and development, Jake Austin & The City Limits formed it's unique sound; a sound that is compiled of influences across all genres that most anyone can enjoy.

One can't dismiss the array of talent when Jake Austin & The City Limits hits the stage. While the screaming horns and frisky rhythms bring you back to the early days of Stax Records, their music is fresh with influences of modern popular music as well. This high-energy band fuses soul, rhythm & blues, rock and country, making their music lively, compelling and memorable. After just four shows Jake Austin and The City Limits was invited to play at St. Louis' favorite concert spot - The Pageant.

Just a few weeks later, the group found itself opening for Grammy nominated Robert Randolph and the Family Band. Jake Austin & The City Limits continued to spend their first year playing popular venues and sharing the stage with blues rooted acts such as Tab Benoit, Hill Country Revue, and even the legendary Chuck Berry. This summer the band has proved their ability to branch out beyond the blues scene by sharing the same bill as Maroon 5 and opening for Montgomery Gentry.

Jake Austin & The City Limits is proud to have a devoted fan base of young and old who want nothing more than to kick up their heels and dance the night away.
