Blue Streak Blues Band

The Blue Streak Blues Band released their first compilation "Old Dogs New Tricks" a few months ago and it is selling like hotcakes at their live shows. I have had the chance to see the frenzy first hand. People really seem to dig these guys. I got my copy of the CD about a month ago and have thoroughly enjoyed it.

These guys have great potential; I dig the stuff now, but I am anxious to see how they are performing and what they will be layin' down in a year or so. Here is my mini review of the disc. You can visit www.bluestreakbluesband.com to pick up a copy for yourself and learn some facts about these nice fellas. Enjoy!!

Track 1: Sho' Look Good To Me (Blue Streak)-nice upbeat shuffle and guitar blues. Definitely some toe tappin', hip shakin' beats.

Track 2: Broken Heart (Walter Trout)-straight guitar blues with a cool grove mixed in nicely; superb vocals from Rich.

Track 3: Same Thing (Willie Dixon)-Great song; how can you not dig anything done by Dixon in the first place?!?! Excellent moral to the song and some fine harp from Rich, too.

Track 4: Someone Else (Blue Streak)-Bo Diddly sound; highly addictive rhythm that will run through your head all day!

Track 5: Brand New Day (Blue Streak)-My favorite track on the disc/uplifting vocals that says there is always hope. Nice guitar rhythm & absolutely dig the harp from Rich!

Track 6: One Way Out (Elmore James)-Again can't go wrong w/ James-such a classic-reminds me a bit of Clapton's sound with some slide mixed in.

Track 7: Al's Jam (Blue Streak)-Love the excellent combo of guitar work and harp playing on this song.

Track 8: Loan Me a Dime (Robinson Fenton)-Slow blues from a great old bluesmen-Rich has excellent lyrics on this one as well.

Track 9:
Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler) (Marvin Gaye)- Nothin' but a sexy, groovin' sound. I can dig it!

Track 10: She Caught the Katy (Taj Mahal)- Enjoyed this tune from the first note; great slide guitar and harp--this is my second favorite on the disc.

Blue Streak Blues Band is:
Rich Bazile: vocals & harp  |  Larry Cowsert: bass  |  Rex Cruzen: drums
Al Jones: lead guitar  |  Tom Soehnlin: lead guitar/slide guitar
